i am a lake of the ozarks, missouri transplant,
originally from north east, texas.
i love DIY + antiquing {those two categorize about 75% of everything i have at the photo studio}.
i love the outdoors {especially the beach}
but adventuring in any way is my favorite thing!

i have always had a love for photography — ask my mom about the boxes of photos she has printed at her house. thousands of disposable camera photos. i got my first “lens changing” camera my junior year of high school, i took many of my friends’ senior photos + here we are. 13 years later!
balloonin’ actually started with photography also — i started making them to match my cake smash sessions. eventually friends started asking, + then people i didn’t know. i love being a part of so many special occasions.

i love helping you make sweet memories with your family, while i capture them. we don’t just do “pose” “say cheese” — we do lots of fun, silly, cuddly things that create real smiles. you know, those cheesy smiles that they make “right now”, yeah, they aren’t going to stay the same, + we need to capture it.

family

full family sessions are 60 minutes long & usually take place in the hour prior to sunset, your choice of my location options. these include the normal posed, smiley photos, along with lots of fun things that bring out the candid expressions of your family. you’ll have access to my client closet to assist in your wardrobe planning! i have lots of beautiful dresses for mom, sibling clothing, + a few dad shirts as well. you’ll receive 50+ digital images in color + black & white with printing rights. the total is $445.

half family sessions are set up kind of like mini sessions, but less rushed. these are 30 minute sessions in which we still cover all of the posed + smiley photos, & sneak in a few candid as well. though, i still send my styling guide, i’m less hands on with styling. you’ll receive 30 digital images in color + black & white with printing rights. the total is $245.

extended family

extended family sessions are typically 3 generations — grandparents, parents, & children — sometimes, it’s even more!. i’ve even had an extended family session where it’s 3 generations from two sides {the grandmas were twins}. regardless of the amount of people, each family gets their own mini session, individuals of all of the kiddos/couples, grandkids with grandparents, & the grandparents together, just the two of them, & so many more variations! these sessions usually take about an hour — even with 24 family members in the rain {gotta do what you gotta do}.

large family sessions usually take place at a special to you location — whether you’re traveling & staying at a rental home, or you’re local & have a farm, i can come to you so you don’t have to coordinate 3+ car loads of people to a random location! though, i’ve got several locations that are easily accessible for your group if that works better for you.

each family will have access to the 40+ digital images with printing rights. the total starts at $495, full total is dependent upon the number of families included.

i’ve got everything we need for a session — other than the baby, of course! ;) all of my props — many of which are either handmade, or antique’d — are available to you for your session. this includes blankets, wraps, headbands, too! i also have a client closet full of dresses for mama, some shirts for dads, + clothing for kiddos in sizes newborn-16! i am always adding new things to my collection. with your guidance, i can put together just about anything to match your style, whether you’re booking an outdoor or studio session!

during your session i do as much as i possibly can by myself, so that you can relax. you just had a baby — you probably haven’t slept much. & ya know? you deserve the rest! that’s why i’m here! i’m conveniently located right next door to Brewed Awakening Bakery — go grab yourself a coffee + a snack! if i need anything from you i’ll ask! :)

just a little studio session faq…

do i need to bring anything for a baby session?
for newborn + milestone sessions i’ve got everything we need except the baby, & extra food! props, wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, etc! if you have something special you would like, or any specific colors you’d like me to use, just let me know ahead of time. i’ll do my best to incorporate anything you may have!

what is a newborn session like?
full newborn sessions are 2-3 hours in which i style from my studio collection. during the session, i will do as much as i can myself. i am going to do my best to soothe your baby without passing babe on to you, to lessen the stimulation. this also includes feedings. i encourage mommas to bring extra food in bottles, even breastfeeding mommas if you’re pumping as well. i want this to be a time for you to relax & just enjoy the moment. as far as timing goes, we work on baby’s time — if baby isn’t ready, we don’t do it. i keep baby as safe as i absolutely can, & have been trained in newborn posing safety.

why & how do i make a newborn sleepy for photos?
first of all, awake newborns are not in control of their bodies. they are more likely to throw themselves around & hurt themselves. though, myself, or someone, is always within arms reach of the baby, having a sleepy baby is overall safer. so how do we do that? 1) plenty of food. 2) senses: hear, smell, & touch. i always have some sort of sound machine going in the background, an oil diffuser diffusing my favorite all natural calming/soothing oils, & i keep it fairly warm in the area in which i’m taking photos. 3) i keep them nice & snuggled to begin their session making them feel comforted & warm! all of these things together are part of how I make magic happen.
